The quirks of their new house didn’t stop with finding out the real condition of the shower. In some of her other videos Charity shared that there is a fan in the house that cannot be shut off, holes in the walls that have been covered instead of fixed, and chimney flashing laid over the shingles instead of under them. According to the new homeowners, the previous owners were big into do-it-yourself projects, which has left plenty of projects for the couple to work on as they begin to make their new house into a home.
With Charity's newfound internet fame has come plenty of internet trolls. Commonly asked questions include “what about a home inspection?” “didn’t you look at the building layout?” “how could you trust what the seller said?” and “why would you buy a house that needs so much work?”. To answer the questions:
• The house was inspected, but home inspectors have a limit to what they can look at. While Charity will agree that the home inspector missed some important aspects of the house, like the improper chimney flashing, when it comes to the shower the inspector couldn’t break down the wall.
• Regarding a building layout, in Oklahoma, you have to pay for the building layout, and the shower was not a surprise in the fact that it existed, the condition of it was a surprise.
• The new homeowners were suspicious of the condition of the shower and didn’t fully trust what the seller told them.
• Charity and Tyler were looking for a house they could afford that had a good foundation. They are pleased with their house and understand that a fixer-upper is bound to have unknown projects.
At this time Charity and Tyler are amazed at how big the story of their hidden shower has gotten. If you would like to hear more about their story, directly from them, check out their episode of Not A Roofers Podcast.
