Today, people across the globe will ring in 2021 filled with hope for the year to come. Beyond the hope that 2021 will see the end of the COVID pandemic, I am sure that many people have already come up with their New Year Resolutions.
However, before we get ahead of ourselves to discuss resolutions for 2021, I would like to take a moment to look back on all that has happened this past year.
As a company, this past year turned out to be one of our best. At the beginning of the year we had three goals:
- Open a Roof Medics Branch in Oklahoma
- Make $1 Million in Revenue
- Complete 10,000 square feet of restoration jobs
Now that this year is ending, we can proudly say that we did not quite reach our goals. You might be wondering why we would be proud of not reaching our goal, but in reality, we will always be working towards our goals. At the end of the day, we were so close to accomplishing what we had set out to do at the beginning of the year. Where we stand right now, our Oklahoma branch is mere weeks away from being a fully functioning branch of Roof Medics. Beyond that, our company is just shy of our $1 million revenue goal. We knew that this goal was maybe a little harder to reach, but it feels good to know that our company isn’t far away from reaching that goal either. As for our last goal, we were able to complete 7,000 square feet of restoration jobs. Overall, I would classify this year as a success.
While we only had three goals for the year, we were able to grow the company in ways we weren’t originally expecting. Our company was able to add four vehicles to our fleet, two of our employees received their drone licenses, and another employee received her accounting certificate from Cornell. Beyond that, we were able to set up the company on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Unknowingly, launching this blog was a goal that came about halfway through the year. It is nice to celebrate the things we did accomplish, even if they were not originally in our plan.
Beyond the company goals, our employees had their own goals for this year. For example, my personal goals included graduating college, getting married, moving back to Wisconsin, and getting a full-time job that I love. Another employee had the goal of moving into her own place. Our owner had a long-term goal of getting his private pilot's license – a goal which he accomplished this past August. A different employee had the goal of getting into a job where he could learn valuable skills to use later in life. Yet another employee had the goal of growing a salsa garden. While the produce from the garden didn’t end up getting made into salsa, our employee did attempt to eat a ghost pepper that he grew. Check out our

for the video of how that went.
As we all say goodbye to 2020, please take some time to think about what you accomplished during this year. You may not have completely reached your goals, and that is okay. Be proud of yourself for what you did accomplish. Just like our company, celebrate the little things that you did, as well as the big goals you may not have reached. At the same time, start thinking about what goals you want to reach next year. Join me for the blog next week where I will be listing out some of the plans we have in store for this next year.
Happy New Year!
