The word maintenance is thrown around many places.
Car maintenance, weight maintenance, and roof maintenance. But what is maintenance? Without getting into the textbook definition it is when a level of work is used to avoid deterioration. Car maintenance is when work is performed on a car to keep it in working condition, weight maintenance is when a certain level of work is exerted to stay at a particular weight. Similarly, roof maintenance is work performed to keep a roof in decent condition.
This is of course a basic definition of maintenance.
If you’ve been around for a while you already know that Roof Medics focuses on repairing, restoring, and maintaining commercial roofs. In fact, we tend to preach repair and maintenance in everything that we do. I know that I could attempt to persuade you to get maintenance done, but instead, I would like to explain why we believe that offering maintenance is important.
I would like to set the stage for this explanation.
Once upon a time the owner of Roof Medics owned and rented out a big commercial building. Like it or not, the roof of that building was leaky and, the re-roofing price tag was big. It was then that the owner realized he had to try something else to get the roof dry. It took some trial and error, but he was able to find a way to keep the roof dry without having to pay the price tag that comes with a re-roofing job. Now, the owner has a long history of working in the roofing industry, and he realized that much like how he couldn’t afford the price tag that came with a new roof, plenty of other business owners were probably in the same boat.
That realization grew until Roof Medics was born.
At the heart of the company is the desire to serve business owners in ways that other roofing companies might be overlooking. To us, maintenance is a way to bridge the gap between roofing needs and financial ability. It gives business owners the option to choose what happens, rather than falling into line with what a roofing professional tells them has to happen. The reality of the roofing industry; new roofs are sold as the solution to old roofs with some problems. In some cases, it is similar to replacing your car just because it needs new tires and the oil changed.
We have options every day. We get to choose what gas station we stop at, where we eat, what we wear, where we shop, and the list goes on. So why is it that when it comes to roofing there doesn’t seem to be more options for older roofs than to completely replace them? This is not to say that roofs don’t ever need to be replaced, but it is to say that we realize that re-roofing isn’t always an option. It could financially be a problem, or the time might not be right. Our goal is to meet building owners where they are at and fill the need they have, not force them to fit the mold we place on them.
Maintenance looks different for every roof, and it’s up to you to decide if it is for you.
